Masonry Cleaning

More often than not, coatings added to masonry trap moisture within the wall resulting in deterioration of the masonry unit or wall structure. Your best bet is to not use them in the first place – a good idea to never use impermeable coatings on a masonry system. However, usually these materials were chosen by the previous owner. There is no other method for understanding what chemical stripping product, dwell time, how many layers of coating, and how many applications are necessary unless testing is undertaken as a first step. Several test samples are executed in order to establish the gentlest means possible while not damaging the masonry. Strict local and EPA regulations are in place that result in proper and safe, capture and disposal of all stripping waste and after-wash material from this process.
